warning: graphic material

Graphic tees are the most non-basic basic there is right now. We’ve seen them dressed up during fashion week and worn casually down the streets of Soho. When we decided we wanted to do a story on the blog focusing on graphic tees, we knew which direction we wanted to go towards…

Effortless and cool, just like the rockstars whose albums were on our shirts.

The Gagosian gallery made for the perfect backdrop to our dark edgy look because it was hosting Richard Serra’s Every Which Way (for future reference, the Gagosian gallery is always a safe bet to be hosting visually beautiful art installations). The gallery consisted of strategically placed concrete walls that had a rust-like effect. The gray and copper from the wall brought out the shades of black and pops of red in our outfits.

Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones were our graphic tees of choice for this shoot. The pop of red from The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers album cover complimented the neutral color scheme from Fleedwood Mac’s Rumours’ album cover. We paired the graphic tees with the standard cool girl accessories: chokers and sunglasses.

I decided to pair my graphic tee (bought at Twenty5A by the way) with a denim vest from Forever 21 and jeans with a zipper detail from Zara. I knew I wanted to try the bandana choker trend and a trendy hairstyle. I chose a black and white bandana so that the pop of red would stand out in my shirt. For my hair, I chose to do a small top knot to complete my edgy look. I added a bit of metallic through these rad new sunglasses I just got from Freyrs. My suede booties from Urban Outfitters softened up the look a bit, but still maintained the overall vibe with the edgy lace up detail.

I knew I had to shoot my Fleetwood Mac graphic tee because I practically live in it (side note: Rumours is genuinely one of the best albums ever made, trust me on this). I chose a red lipstick for my pop of color (Urban Decay in the shade F-Bomb) and went with the slept-in just rolled out of bed look (pretending to be a cool girl, actually just lazy AF)I wore one of my favorite chokers from Forever 21 which has a really cool leather and metal medallion thing going on. My high-waisted black jeans from Forever 21 (the best high waisted jeans and so affordable by the way) and my leather short booties from Nine West completed my look.
